One of the best of the 70s - The Sting Reviews
A lot of movies made in the 1970s simply can't stand the test of time, because of a truly messed up culture. You could go to Shakespeare in the Park, and see Hamlet wearing tie-die. Most of the period pieces of the decade used 70s hairstyles and 70s influenced costumes, so you can tell in an instant when the film was made, even if you can't tell what era the film is supposed to be portraying. This film, thankfully, isn't like that. There is an authentic feel of Depression Era Chicago, and a soundtrack straight out of Prohibition.
The cast was stellar, beginning with a couple of leading men you may have heard of, Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Both give magnificent performances. The supporting cast was equally impressive. Robert Shaw was quite menacing as an Irish mob boss. My Favorite Martian, Ray Walston, was quite believable as the brains of the operation. Harold Gould was the ultimate smooth talking operator. Robert Earl Jones, (father of James Earl), was very sympathetic as Redford's mentor. And Charles Durning played the corrupt, and slightly bumbling, cop nearly perfectly.
The sting keeps you thinking - The Sting Reviews
In the Sting, a young man seeks revenge because his partner in crime is murdered. He seeks the help of Henry Gondorf and begins to plot a way to make money off the killer. The Sting's ending leaves you thinking, because all through the Sting you should never believe what you see.
A great movie - The Sting Reviews
from begining to end. Loved the way it ends:"Hey kid, what about your share? Nah...i'd just blow it." You can't really appreciate those lines unless you watch the movie.

It's amazing!! - The Sting Reviews
ITS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING MOVIE BUY OR RENT IT NOW!! TODAY I TELL YA TODAY!!yes do it i tell ya do it you really should and its guaranteed not to be a waist of time or money
Not bad... - The Sting Reviews
...but it is just a movie about two con artists back in the 1930s. It doesn't exactly raise awareness about anything relevent. One in a line of films that made Robert Redford a corporation. Interesting thing-the music was by Scott Joplin, a black man who started recording piano rags in the 1890s.
Robert redford and the sting - The Sting Reviews
In reflecting on The Sting I see only Robert Redford with that cocky and very naive smile as he runs through the movie and character and the life of this very entertaining movie with a wonderful soundtrack and smart subtitles between acts. I loved it. Of course Paul Newman was great and quite effective as the senior statesman to Robert Redford's freshman status. Luther was wonderful as the very respected grifter and who I found out was Earl James Jones's father. How about that? It doesn't get better then that. The supporting cast was phenomenal from the little guy reading the ticker tape to the guy with the limp (Robert Shaw). Talk about a work of blooming art!!!

This is truly one of my 10 favourite movies. It tells the very original story of some robbers wich plan the best movie sting I have ever seen. Robert Redford spends all the movie running to try and escape from a policeman and from Lonnegan's men.

The sting - The Sting Reviews
This movie is so sweet. Robert Redfor and Paul Newman are amazing. Artistically this movie is awseome, the set design is awseome. The cinematography is great. Pretty much everything about this movie is good. The story its self is what makes this movie. It is very well written. I highly recommend.
My favourite movie - The Sting Reviews
This is my all-time favourite movie. Redford, Newman, Robert Shaw, how can you go wrong?
Acting is superb. Even though thwe main actors are top actors recognizabe to anyone with a passing familiarity with the fact that movies exist, you lose the noteriety in the characters.
This is a period piece set in 1920's chicago area. It is about a con game run by redford and newman on shaw.
It won the Best Picture Acadamy Award in 1973 and stands up well to the test of time.
Great film. one of my favorites - The Sting Reviews
Great cast and a unique plot. The movie had me scratching my head thinking how they were going to pull this off.

Greatest movie ever - The Sting Reviews
The Sting is one of the greatest movies ever made. Johnny hooker is played by robert redford and teams up with henry gondorf, paul newman for the greatest con movies. Its an old movie and it has it's share of slow parts, but bare with it and you'll be glad you did. it won ther academy award for a reason.
Awesome production - The Sting Reviews
I love this movie; if I could only own 10 movies, this would be one of them. The only flaw I see is what seems to be strangely inappropriate racial language in the opeing scenes. I know using the N word is an integral part of the story, but it rankles me every time I hear it. Otherwise, a movie to watch over and over.
Classsical - The Sting Reviews
The story was unbelievable i enjoyed the fine touch of Scott Joplins Ragtime which gave the movie it's identidy. Great scam great story great acting I recomend it very highley. If you havent watched it yet you have not witnessed good cinema.
